Dental technology and advancements are constantly changing smiles and lives through improved access, precision, and patient-centered care. From smart toothbrushes which track the patterns of brushing to the regenerative treatments that may one day replace implants and dentures, the innovations continue to advance and develop.

Laser dentistry is becoming more common and enables dentists to perform a variety of treatments that require less methods, such as gum disease treatment and tooth decay elimination. Nanotechnology also improves dental material. Fillings and coatings are now more similar to natural tooth enamel while reducing wear. Meanwhile, 3D printing is reshaping the industry by allowing to produce intricate dental parts quickly and precisely. It is now possible to let dentists design and fabricate dental prosthetics in-house without the need for an lab. This reduces errors and allows for adjustments.

Digital X-rays and cone beam Tomography scans are other innovative technologies that provide high-resolution pictures of the teeth and soft tissue. These diagnostic tools are more precise as well as safer than traditional X-rays, and prevent exposure to harmful radiation.

Virtual reality (VR) is also transforming the dental experience, offering a distraction to decrease patient pain perception and making treatment less stressful. Similarly, augmented reality (AR) is becoming increasingly used as a tool to educate patients and improve treatment planning through immersive visualizations of their results.
